Special Animals Looking for Homes

Maya is an eight year old Chow X. She is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Maya was surrendered to the CCSAC for snapping at a toddler in the home and bruising his face. She is a resource guarder and is incredibly intolerant of cats. She is good with other dogs but can also be leash aggressive and over protective of her caregivers and home. She is quite affectionate with people. We all have our faces washed with her kisses on a regular basis! She has been attending a weekly agility class and is one of the top students! She is a senior and has mild issues with her thyroid. She takes a medication daily to help. If there is a Chow experienced home out there who wants to love, manage, and protect Maya during her senior years please give us a call!

Shasta is a three year old Boxer cross. She is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is a lovely dog who has some issues with other animals and strangers. She is very aggressive towards other dogs, particularly females, and she has shown aggression towards strangers. Aside from these issues, Shasta is a lovely, loyal dog who soaks up attention and love! She is healthy and active, loves to run and play. She has a favorite toy and is always ready for a treat! While we cannot safely adopt Shasta out into the community due to her aggression issues, she has a forever home at the CCSAC and is loved very much!

Moufassa is an approx. one year old Pit Bull cross. He is neutered, tattooed, and vaccinated. Moufassa was found with no family in sight. He was very thin and hungry upon arrival at our Centre! He is very sweet, a nice mid-sized dog who would love to join an active, happy family! *Since Moufassa arrived as a stray we had no history on his behaviour, he is showing us that he is not good with other animals and we would not recommend him to a home with children. He needs a lot of patient and consistent training before he is ready to join the community, we are currently working with positive training methods to counteract his jumping up and inappropriate mouthing.

Bella is an approx. two year old Black Lab cross. She is spayed, microchipped, tattooed, and vaccinated. Why is this sweet little girl on our special needs page? She is great with people, other dogs, and has even lived with cats! She has a skin condition (don't worry, it's not contagious) that requires lifelong monitoring and medication. Bella is a lovely girl who just needs a little extra help to stay healthy and happy! We don't think that is too much to ask for such a special girl!

Elmer is an approx. one year old Domestic Short Hair. He is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is a lovely boy. He is sweet and shy and melts your heart with the first cuddle! He is just a sweetheart that you want to love and protect forever! He is a special boy because he has a heart condition that causes his heart muscle to thicken and enlarge. At this stage, no treatment is required, other than careful monitoring and TLC. As the disease progresses, he may need medication. We are sure hoping that a very special person will step forward and give Elmer the good home he deserves. It is the quality of time you get to spend with each other that is important!

NoName is an approx. five year old Domestic Short Hair. He is neutered, tattooed,and vaccinated. He is on our special needs page because he has a seizure disorder. He spent a few days with our vet and is otherwise perfectly healthy. They do not think that the disorder requires treatment at this time. He just needs that wonderful responsible someone who will look out for him!

Belle is a five year old Bull Mastiff. She is spayed, tattooed, and vaccinated. Belle has been at our Adoption Centre since August 2007. She is a great dog who adores her human companions! She is true to her breed and is quite the guard dog. While she has never shown any aggression towards people, (in fact she is as sweet as pie!) -she has displayed serious inter-dog aggression. While we cannot safely rehome Belle into the community due to her aggression issues, she has her forever home at the CCSAC and is loved very much!

Apollo is an approximately three year old Shepherd cross. He is neutered, tattooed, and vaccinated. He was the first dog to come to the CCSAC (in May of 2007) for rehoming and he is still waiting!!!! Some of the best qualities to describe Apollo are: loving, affectionate, smart, loyal, eager to please, and social. He struggles with separation anxiety, can be very destructive when left alone, can be an escape artist, has a high prey drive-particularly with cats, and is good with most dogs, but not all. While the CCSAC has become like his home, it is not the same as bonding with a forever family. We need an experienced dog person, with lots of time to share with Apollo, to step forward and make a committment to this very special friend of ours!
