SNAP--Spay Neuter Program for Low Income Families in the Bow Valley

The Bow valley SPCA has received a grant from PetSmart Charities to fully subsidize the costs of spaying or neutering dogs and cats in the Bow Valley.  Applications can be picked up at the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre (home of the Bow Valley SPCA) located at 123 Bow meadows Crescent in Canmore, Alberta.

The basis for the grant was a pilot program run in 2010 that proved the need for such a program in the Bow Valley.  We accepted 12 applications in a little over three months and spayed or neutered 13 dogs and cats.

The program which will run throughout 2011, or until funds from the grant are no longer available is slightly different from the pilot program.  The PetSmart Charities program will pay for the entire cost and does not ask for a contribution from the applicant.  In contrast applicants were asked to contribute what they could during the pilot program.
