About Fava Bean

We are pleased to announce that Fava Bean was adopted on May 16, 2026
After months of daunting diagnoses, extensive testing, dedicated medical care, and bouncing between loving but temporary foster homes, brave little Fava Bean has finally found her forever family, and we couldn’t be more overjoyed for her! Wonderfully affectionate with people once she feels safe, Fava Bean immediately adores every feline friend she meets. So we truly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect match for this sweet Bean than the family who opened their hearts to her. From now on, she’ll enjoy endless kitten snuggles and the unconditional love she has always deserved from her amazing new people. Sometimes the perfect family is absolutely worth the wait. 🧡
Hello, my name is Fava Bean. Wanna hear an inspiring story??? For nearly a year, anyone who met me would have called me extremely shy. And that was probably a fair assessment when I was in a shelter environment ... but that's not me anymore!!! In fact, my foster parents now call me the Brave Little Bean!

Like many timid cats who struggle in the shelter, I was repeatedly passed by because I was withdrawn and didn't seek out attention. I didn't play, look for affection, sit on anyone's lap, or even want to venture outside my room. As amazing as the shelter is, it's a busy environment and it didn't allow me to shine. So bolder kitties always seemed to find their forever homes before me.

But that has changed!!! After a health scare (don't worry, all is fine now!), I had the chance to move into a foster home and show everyone who I really am! In short order, my fosters found a transformed kitty:

· Curious - Yep. Wallflower no more. In fact, I love checking things out!
· Cuddler - Check. You gotta hear my purr engine ... it runs all day!
· Playful - Oh yeh. I am an exceptional athlete ... goalie, basketball player, you name it!
· Comedian - Mhmmm. I keep my fosters in stiches with my playful, sweet antics!

I have become a lover of people, gentle pets and butt scratches. I haven't met a string, ball or toy mouse that stood a chance against my fancy moves. And I will entertain you for hours on end. I am learning to sit on my foster mama's lap, and we are now in early stages of working on being picked up. My new perfect family needs to understand that it will take me time to adjust at first, and I will hide as I adjust. But give me time and patience - with food as a tool to get me out of my shell - and I will become the sweetest and most playful girl!!

If you have a calm home and a lap waiting to be filled, I hope you consider adopting me. I am a sweetheart, and an easy girl to have around. Get in touch to come meet me!

Dog-friendly: Untested
Cat-friendly: Yes, I love other cats! Preference will be given to a home with another cat.
Kid-friendly: Yes, patient older kids recommended due to timid nature
Do I Need Special Care?: I was diagnosed with Ocular Feline Infectious Peritonitis in August 2025, which is a dangerous mutation of an otherwise harmless virus. I was started on treatment, and thankfully, responded extremely well! I am now finished my 80-day treatment and am considered fully recovered. Relapse is considered low risk at this time. Following treatment, unfortunately I continued to have chronic pain, inflammation, and unusually high pressures in my affected eye, and the decision was made to do an eye enucleation (removal) to give me a better, pain-free quality of life. I have now fully recovered from that surgery and haven't let being a one-eyed kitty slow me down one bit! I am thankful that this frightening ordeal is over, and my prognosis is now fantastic, and I am expected to be a happy, healthy girl from now on!
