Class Overview
Start your puppy off on the right paw with our Puppy Playgroup and Skills class!
Designed for puppies aged 12 to 26 weeks (3 to 6 months), in this class puppies will learn how to socialize and interact with other dogs during their critical socialization period. Sessions are held at the Bow Valley SPCA in our outdoor play pen. Emma Francis, our class trainer, ensures that play is positive and controlled, and will also provide some useful tips and tricks on puppy training and ownership!

What You’ll Need
- A puppy who loves people and other dogs
- Treats that your dog finds irresistible and will keep their focus!
- Flat buckle quick release collar or harness, tags, and a 6-foot flat leash
- And a fun outlook because we’re all about making training fun for everyone!
Registration & Enrollment
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that your registration will not be considered complete until payment has been received and vaccination records have been submitted.

Duration: 6 weeks
Session length: 60 min
Class size: Maximum 6 puppies (up to two adult handlers per puppy)
Location: Outdoors at The Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre
Pre-requisites: No previous training required

Class Requirements
Dog Age: 3 to 6 months
Vaccinations: Your dog must be up-to-date on Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and have at least their first DAPP vaccine.*
Spay/Neuter: Not required for this puppy class. However, if your female puppy goes into heat, they will not be allowed to attend class, and no refunds will be given for missed sessions. Intact males exhibiting disruptive behaviors may be asked to step out to regroup.
*Proof of up-to-date vaccination (not overdue) must be provided within 48 hours of registration by email to events@bowvalleyspca.org. Failure to provide documentation within this time period will result in cancellation of registration without refund.

Some of the veterinary clinics in Canmore offer puppy socialization classes, and we would highly recommend taking checking into these as well to give your puppy all the tools to succeed in life! The critical socialization period is an important time to have your puppy learning how to interact and play well with other dogs.
