SNAP--Spay Neuter Program for Qualified Families in the Bow Valley

The Bow valley SPCA subsidizes the costs of spaying or neutering dogs and cats in the Bow Valley. Applications can be picked up at the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre (home of the Bow Valley SPCA) located at 123 Bow meadows Crescent in Canmore, Alberta, or downloaded as PDF documents (attached to this news item).
The Bow Valley SPCA created a pilot program run in 2010 that proved the need for such a program in the Bow Valley. We accepted 12 applications in a little over three months and spayed or neutered 13 dogs and cats. This was the basis for a PetSmart grant that funded the entire cost of spay/neuter surgeries for qualified applicants. That funding ended on April 15, 2012. We spayed/neuter 80 dogs and cats under the grant. Similar to the pilot program, applicants will now be asked to contribute what they can.
