About Jethro

Hey there, I'm Jethro! Don't let my scruffy exterior fool you; I'm one of the sweetest, most gregarious guys you'll ever meet! I spent the early part of my life fending for myself outdoors, and while that gave me a bit of a rugged look, it also made me incredibly appreciative of every kind hand and cozy moment that's come my way.

I'm a total social butterfly and a gentle soul through and through. Humans, cats, and dogs, I adore them all! If you're nearby, I'll happily be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your biggest fan. The amazing BVSPCA Cat-Centric volunteers and Animal Care Staff have spoiled me with affection, puzzle games, nap sessions, and even leash-walking adventures (which I've taken to with enthusiasm!).

Now I'm ready to charm even more people and, hopefully, find a home where my affectionate nature can truly shine. I'm dreaming of a family who loves long cuddle sessions, generous chin scratches, and having a friendly companion always close by. I am still recovering and may need a bit of extra care moving forward, but I'm looking better every day and I promise to repay your kindness with endless warmth, gratitude, and love! ??

Do I Need Special Care?: When I arrived at the shelter as a stray, I had an aural hematoma on my right ear and an ulcer on my right eye. I had surgery to repair the hematoma and began medicated drops and antibiotics for my eye. I healed well from surgery, although my ear will always be a bit misshapen as a result. After surgery, I continued to have dark debris in my ear and ongoing squinting and discharge from my eye. I've had multiple diagnostics (ear cytology, PCR test for pathogens, a nasal scope, a sedated ear cleaning, an eye stain, and more) but no definitive cause has been found. The vet believes the issue likely stems from my inner ear. Over several months I've tried several medications, including eye drops, ear drops, and oral treatments, with limited success. I'm currently on a two-month trial of an oral steroid and antibiotic eye drop, and things seem to be improving. The hope is that reducing inflammation will help long-term, and allow the steroid to be tapered. If this trial doesn't resolve the issue, the next step would be a specialist referral for a CT scan and possible surgery, which would be the adopter's responsibility and at their expense. I hope to find a special home that will support me on my health journey, and love me despite my medical quirks!
