About Manny
We are pleased to announce that Manny was adopted on Aug. 8, 2023
I am in a foster home but I am still AVAILABLE for adoption!
Hey there, I'm Manny! I arrived to the BVSPCA after being found stray, and sadly nobody came to claim me. I can be timid (who can blame me, it's a confusing period of my life), but I have a kind, gentle soul, and just need to build some confidence once I realize I am safe. I am a very sweet boy, and still young and very trainable. I think I'd like a quieter home for now where I can settle in, and then my true colours will shine! I am a very loving boy, and even though I am scared, I will lean right into the people I trust for a head scratch. While loud, exuberant dogs can overwhelm me, I would really love to go to a home with a calm, confident resident canine, as I reference my canine foster-sister to judge whether a situation is safe or not. Having a stable, well-adjusted dog to help me feel safe will make an adjustment to a new home much easier. I'd prefer a home without young kids for now, because I startle very easily with any loud noises or sudden movements. Speaking of, I am a flight risk right now, and will try to bolt on walks if I hear a big scary noise or see something that scares me. I'm also quite crafty at slipping out of a harness, so my new owners will need to be prepared to work to earn my trust before working up leashed walks in busy public settings. A secure backyard with a tall, escape-proof fence would be great for the first bit while I settle in. Off-leash settings won't be safe for me right away, and my new adopters should be aware that I may always be a flight risk. I will definitely need to bond with my new people, take lots of time to decompress, and learn that I am safe before trying an off-leash setting. Unfortunately, I am not well suited to apartment living. In an environment I feel safe, I am affectionate and my full-body wiggles will tell you I'm feeling safe! I can't wait to be in a stable and loving home that can help me to become the best version of myself!
Dog-friendly: Yes
Cat-friendly: Untested
Kid-friendly: Untested, recommend aged 16+
Interested?! Please fill out our adoption application and submit to adopt@bowvalleyspca.org. Upon approval you will be contacted to arrange an appointment time to come meet me!
