What is in a Name: Grizzly Paw Makes a Craft Brew for the Bow Valley SPCA

The Grizzly Paw Brewery has partnered with the Bow Valley SPCA as part of their community involvement and outreach. Part of the partnership involved making a "craft brew" designed specifically for the warm days at the end of summer. Several BVSPCA volunteers (and we did not have to look very hard to find them) worked with the Grizzly Paw brew master to choose the type of beer. We choose an English Pale Ale.

The volunteers provided hands on support all of the way through the process--starting with adding the yeast and hops, and then ending with the bottling and labeling. Of course all of this was under the strict guidance of the Grizzly Paw staff.

Perhaps the hardest part for the BVSPCA was choosing the name for the brew. Realizing that beer would be ready for consumption at about one year after Ezra's 11 puppies were born, we decided to call it Ezra's English Pale Ale. Then it was back to Grizzly Paw to design the label. We provided some images and Kristina Cardinale, marketing director for Grizzly Paw, created an amazing label, capturing Ezra's personality.

All that was left was to taste it and then offer it for sale at National Dog Day. It tasted great to us and that was confirmed by every one we spoke with at the National Dog Day event. Ezra's people ordered 3 cases to celebrate their great companion and show her off to their friends. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Ezra's English Pale Ale will be donated to the Bow Valley SPCA.
