Adoption Application

Our ultimate goal is to see our resident animals adopted into furr-ever homes! Adoption is a commitment of love and care to an animal for the duration of their lives. We believe that there is a forever home for each and every animal.

Application Process

Our Adoption Application process is designed to ensure the best fit of animal and home. Please take time to go through the following steps and give careful consideration to the addition of a pet to your life.

  1. Read Before You Adopt on our website
  2. Read our Adoption Policy
  3. Check our website for available animals
  4. If you are interested in a particular cat, we encourage you to come down and visit during our public visitation hours. Dogs can only be visited by serious adopters who have submitted an application and arranged a scheduled visit with the Adoption Centre Manager.
  5. Submit an Application Form (at the bottom of the page) by email or by dropping it off in person at our Centre during public hours (Wednesday to Saturday, 12:00pm to 4:00pm).

We encourage you to fill out an Adoption Application if you are considering adopting from us, even if you do not have a specific animal in mind, so that we have your information on hand and you can be pre-approved for adoption, speeding up the process for when you do find a pet you want to adopt.

Once your application is received, our Adoption Centre Manager will contact you with any further questions, and if your application is approved, to arrange an appointment for you to come visit the animal(s).

Adoption Timeline

Please note that we do not do same-day adoptions for dogs or cats. Once you have decided you wish to adopt a particular animal, you will need to go home and make sure this is the right decision for your family, prepare your house and gather supplies, and take any steps necessary to prepare for bringing your new pet home.

If you are adopting a dog, after an initial meet and greet at the Centre with just the humans living in the home, you will need to arrange with the Adoption Centre Manager to bring your current dog (if you already have one) in for a second meet and greet at our Centre. Some of our dogs require multiple meet and greets before you can proceed with adoption.

Application Form

Please indicate in the header of your email the name of the animal you are interested in, if you have one specifically.

The form can be filled out digitally or by hand. If filling out digitally and you are unable to sign the application, please just type your name in the signature line.

Please email your application to adopt@bowvalleyspca.org or drop it off at the Centre during our public visiting hours (Wednesday to Saturday, 12:00pm to 4:00pm).

Applications sent to other email addresses will not be reviewed.
