About Koa
We are pleased to announce that Koa was adopted on Dec. 29, 2023
I am in a foster home, but I am AVAILABLE for adoption!
Hey there, I'm Koa! My name means "Warrior" or "Brave One" which is well suited, because I've been through a lot in my short life! I was found nearby, left in a box for dead outside. Luckily, some kind folks found me, brought me to the vet, and I began a long road to recovery. When I was rescued, I was extremely malnourished and emaciated, FULL of worms, and very scared. At first, the veterinarians didn't think I would survive, but thanks to their amazing care, slowly but surely I gained strength and confidence, and after a lot of TLC and love, I'm ready to find my forever home! I have been staying in a foster home while I have recovered, and so I've gotten to go on lots of adventures. At first, I could barely walk down the block because I was so weak, but now I've worked my way up to short hikes, kayaking, and am excited to keep exploring the rocky mountains! I've enjoyed going to puppy socialization classes and making lots of friends my size, but big dogs can still intimidate me a little. Once I meet some calm and gentle big dogs, I think I'll warm up, and I've even made friends with a couple big dogs that are at the shelter! I've enjoyed making lots of new friends, and while I used to be a bit timid with meeting new people, I've really turned over a new leaf and now I love to make new friends. Because I was a nervous puppy, who can still be cautious about new places and experiences, and have clearly had a lot of trauma in my young life, I'm looking for a forever home that will keep working on my socialization and confidence, to keep me on the right path. Like a typical puppy, I've got lots of learning to do, and lots of enthusiasm for the world. I've recently discovered I LOVE snow! I bet there's lots more to discover together, so get in touch if you'd like to arrange a time to meet me!
Dog-friendly: Yes
Cat-friendly: Untested, likely yes with proper introductions
Kid-friendly: Yes, respectful older children preferred
Interested?! Please fill out our adoption application and submit to adopt@bowvalleyspca.org. Upon approval you will be contacted to arrange an appointment time to come meet me!
